Orlando, FL – Central Florida beaches face dangerous conditions Friday, with a high risk of life-threatening rip currents, rough surf, and coastal flooding. The National Weather Service has urged residents and visitors to stay out of the water, as rip currents can easily sweep swimmers away from shore. Flood-prone areas should also be approached with caution, as roads may be hazardous and some areas remain underwater.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the combination of high surf and a strong southward-flowing longshore current poses a serious risk along the coast. These conditions are expected to persist through the weekend, with the greatest impact anticipated at popular beach destinations like Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, and New Smyrna Beach.

As of Thursday, Sanford experienced a record-breaking rainfall of 3.31 inches, further compounding the potential for localized flooding. Central Florida is forecasted to remain breezy with afternoon highs reaching the low 80s, and gusty conditions adding to the hazardous beach outlook.

Looking ahead, the forecast for Orlando anticipates mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid-80s through the weekend and into next week. Winds will vary from 10 to 15 mph, which may contribute to rougher seas and extended beach hazards. Saturday is expected to remain sunny with a high near 83, while Sunday could reach 85 with clear skies continuing.

For those planning outdoor activities, staying informed about current conditions is crucial, especially near water. Visitors to the coast should heed warnings and avoid entering the ocean until conditions improve. For the latest updates, residents can monitor the National Weather Service and local emergency alerts as weather patterns continue to develop.
