Melbourne, FL – Residents and visitors along the Treasure Coast should exercise caution at area beaches as a moderate risk of rip currents continues through Monday. With breaking waves reaching up to 4 feet, beachgoers are strongly advised to heed the warnings of lifeguards and avoid swimming in unguarded areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, rip currents remain a significant concern for all Atlantic beaches across central and south Florida. These currents can drag even strong swimmers away from shore. Experts advise staying close to lifeguard-patrolled areas, avoiding deeper waters, and following local flag systems for guidance.

Sunday’s forecast features highs in the low 70s and a brisk northerly breeze of 10-15 mph, with occasional gusts reaching 20 mph. Isolated showers are possible along the Treasure Coast, but most areas will remain dry. Overnight temperatures will drop to the low 50s, with cooler weather continuing through midweek.

The start of the workweek will bring sunny skies with slightly cooler highs near 68°F on Monday and lows dipping to the upper 40s. By midweek, temperatures will gradually warm, reaching highs near 73°F by Thursday. Winds will shift slightly, maintaining breezy conditions but calming by Wednesday.

Boaters and small craft operators should remain cautious, as the hazardous weather outlook indicates Gulf Stream waves of up to 6 feet.

Plan your outings carefully this week, keeping safety top of mind. Those heading to the beaches should avoid venturing too far into the water and always check local advisories. Cooler, sunny weather makes it an ideal time for outdoor activities away from the surf.
