Tallahassee, Florida – Isolated severe thunderstorms could disrupt Sunday plans across the Florida Panhandle, with damaging wind gusts and small hail possible from late afternoon into the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Level 1 of 5 Marginal Risk for severe storms is in place for inland portions of the Panhandle and Big Bend, including Tallahassee, Marianna, and Perry. The risk window extends from mid-afternoon through sunset Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Residents in areas like Apalachicola, Cross City, and DeFuniak Springs should prepare for quick-developing storms capable of producing lightning, gusts over 40 mph, and brief downpours. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated storms may still down tree limbs or cause minor power outages.

If you plan to be on the road, especially along U.S. Highway 98 or I-10, keep an eye on rapidly changing conditions and avoid driving through water-covered streets. Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and charge your devices ahead of time.

Rain chances increase further into next week, with precipitation probabilities hitting 55–60% by Tuesday across much of the region. Warnings remain possible through Sunday evening.
