Tallahassee, FL – A powerful squall line is expected to sweep across the Florida Panhandle Monday, bringing damaging winds, hail, and a potential tornado threat through 8 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service Tallahassee, much of the region remains under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe weather. The impacted area includes the I-10 corridor and stretches into southern Alabama and southwest Georgia, where storms are expected to intensify late Monday morning into the afternoon.
The squall line is forecast to reach Central Time Zone counties between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. CDT, with arrival times between 2 and 5 p.m. EDT in areas like Tallahassee, Apalachicola, and Albany. Storms could bring wind gusts over 60 mph, isolated tornadoes, and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.
Residents should monitor local alerts, especially during the afternoon commute. The National Weather Service advises having multiple methods to receive warnings and sheltering indoors if warnings are issued.
This severe setup is not unusual for springtime across the Southeast, but Monday’s timing and intensity warrant close attention. Storms are forecast to exit the region by early evening, but residual showers may linger.
