Tallahassee, Florida – Torrential rain is expected to soak the Florida Panhandle, southwest Georgia, and southeastern Alabama through Tuesday evening, with flash flooding likely in vulnerable areas as rainfall totals climb. Some isolated locations could see more than 8 inches, putting low-lying roads and neighborhoods at risk of dangerous conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday across the region. Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is anticipated, with pockets of much higher totals. Flash flooding could occur rapidly, especially in poor-drainage areas, creeks, and underpasses.
Communities including Tallahassee, Bainbridge, Dothan, and Marianna are under heightened risk. Emergency officials urge residents to avoid flooded roads and never drive through standing water. Travel could become hazardous along U.S. 27, I-10, and other major routes throughout the watch area.
Clouds and consistent rain will hold temperatures below normal, ranging from the low 80s in Alabama to near 90 in Valdosta and Monticello.
The Flood Watch will remain active until early Tuesday evening, and more watches or warnings could be issued if rainfall intensifies or shifts. Stay weather-aware and monitor updates from local emergency management.
