Tallahassee, FL – Dense fog is blanketing Florida’s Panhandle coast Monday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions both onshore and offshore.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. CDT) for multiple counties and marine zones, including coastal waters from Mexico Beach to the Ochlockonee River and inland areas such as South Walton, Coastal Bay, Franklin, Jefferson, Taylor, Wakulla, Gulf, and Dixie counties.

Visibility in affected areas may drop to one-quarter to one-half mile on land, and to less than one nautical mile over open Gulf waters. Drivers are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra space between vehicles. Mariners should navigate cautiously, using radar and fog signals when appropriate.

The advisory impacts key areas along U.S. Highway 98 and State Road 30, as well as popular boating and fishing spots in Apalachicola Bay, St. Andrews Bay, and near Mexico Beach.

Fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning, but officials urge continued caution through the early hours. This weather event comes as seasonal humidity increases and calm winds trap moisture near the surface, a common springtime pattern in the region.
