Tallahassee, FL – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee is warning of elevated fire danger again today across southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia, and the eastern Florida Panhandle, due to low humidity and ongoing drought conditions.
Afternoon relative humidity levels between 15–25%, combined with breezy winds, will create an environment where fires can start and spread more easily. Residents are urged to avoid open flames, refrain from using outdoor equipment that may cause sparks, and keep vehicles off dry grass.
However, relief appears to be on the way. Forecasts show beneficial rainfall arriving Monday night into Tuesday, with the highest chances of 1 inch or more focused over Dothan, Enterprise, Marianna, Bonifay, and De Funiak Springs.
While this rain will help ease drought conditions, meteorologists caution it will not be enough to end the drought entirely. Rain chances and totals may shift as the system approaches, so residents should continue checking updates through the start of next week.
