Tallahassee, FL – For the first time in weeks, steady rainfall swept across North Florida, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia on Friday, delivering a much-needed soaking to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, most areas received between a quarter inch and one inch of rain. However, isolated heavier pockets brought 1.5 to 2 inches of accumulation near Dothan, AL, Seminole County, GA, and Florida’s coastal strip from Panama City to Perry.

The heaviest rainfall was observed along the Gulf Coast, with spots near Apalachicola, Perry, and Keaton Beach reaching more than two inches. Inland cities such as Marianna and Blountstown also saw totals closer to 1.5 inches.

Meteorologists said the rain was largely beneficial, helping to ease dry conditions across the region. “Our lawns and plants are surely rejoicing,” the agency wrote in a social media update early Saturday morning. Still, forecasters cautioned that some minor ponding of water likely occurred in low-lying areas where the heaviest amounts fell.

The widespread rainfall marked a welcome change after an extended dry stretch for much of North Florida and southern Georgia. Forecasters will continue monitoring conditions as the region moves deeper into the fall season.
