Tampa, Florida – A bomb threat that triggered a full emergency response at a Carrollwood assisted living facility has led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man, authorities confirmed Monday.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the threat was reported on April 7 when a caller claimed there was a bomb inside the Colonnade at Carrollwood on South Village Drive before hanging up. Deputies quickly responded and conducted a full search of the facility, finding no explosives.
Investigators identified the caller as Alexander Lufriu, who had ties to Minnesota. Law enforcement tracked the phone number linked to the threat, leading to coordination with the Prior Lake Police Department.
Lufriu was arrested on April 8 in Scott County, Minnesota. He now faces charges including making a false report involving a bomb or weapon of mass destruction and unlawful use of a communications device.
Officials say incidents like this place lives at risk and strain emergency resources. Residents in the area may have noticed heavy law enforcement activity during the initial response.
The investigation remains active, and authorities say additional updates could be released as the case moves forward.
