Tampa, Florida – Scattered thunderstorms and temperatures climbing into the 90s are creating steamy and potentially stormy conditions across West Central and Southwest Florida this Memorial Day. Interior areas like Arcadia and Sebring face a 60% chance of rain, with outdoor plans at risk through the afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, highs will peak near 93°F in Chiefland, Brooksville, and Crystal River. Sarasota, Fort Myers, and Arcadia will also see highs around 90°F, with the greatest rain and storm chances across the interior and southwestern corridor. Showers could begin as early as late morning and continue sporadically through the evening.

Residents in Lakeland, Sebring, and Fort Myers should be prepared for sudden downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Roads may become slick, and those traveling for the holiday should allow extra time and monitor weather alerts. With highs above 90°F, heat safety is also critical—stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.

Storm activity is expected to diminish overnight, but additional rain chances could return Tuesday. Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware as conditions evolve.
