Monroe County, MI – Troy S. Wheatcraft, 59, of Port Charlotte, Florida, tragically lost his life in a crash at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Mall Road in Frenchtown Township. Wheatcraft, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding his 2018 Harley Davidson Deluxe motorcycle when the incident occurred at 6:04 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, Wheatcraft was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet Trax driven by Mikalah M. Yeske, 18, of Dundee, Michigan. The Chevrolet overturned and came to rest on its roof. Wheatcraft was pronounced dead at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Yeske and her passenger, Rebecca A. Yeske, 48, of Newport, Michigan, were transported to Corewell Health Hospital in serious condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the crash happened as Yeske was making an eastbound turn into the Walmart parking lot. Both Yeske and her passenger were wearing seat belts, and the airbags in the Chevrolet deployed upon impact.

Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the crash. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact them at 734-240-7541.
