Fort Myers, FL – A Lee County man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly placing a sleeping child in a chokehold inside an East Lee County home.

According to the Lee County Sheriffโ€™s Office, deputies took 27-year-old Dominic Fisher into custody on two counts of aggravated child abuse. Authorities said video surveillance from the childโ€™s room shows Fisher entering while the child was asleep, wrapping his arm around the childโ€™s neck, and holding the choke for several seconds.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno described the footage as โ€œbeyond disturbingโ€ and said his office will pursue the โ€œharshest penalties possibleโ€ in the case.

The sheriffโ€™s office reported that the child is expected to make a full physical recovery. No motive has been provided for Fisherโ€™s alleged actions.

Deputies said the investigation remains active, and Fisher is being held while awaiting his first court appearance.
