Brevard County, FL – Two men in Brevard County were arrested this week following separate investigations by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit that uncovered hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse material, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the cases began after cyber tips were referred to investigators from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Agents first identified Allen Tonkin as a person of interest. Following surveillance and a search warrant, investigators reportedly found a USB drive containing over 400 illegal images and videos of child sexual abuse. Tonkin was arrested and charged with 10 counts of Possession of Material Depicting Sexual Conduct With a Child and is being held on a no-bond status at the Brevard County Jail.
Days later, ICAC agents executed a second search warrant at the residence of Harry Larson-Postell, after receiving additional cyber tips from Kik Messenger regarding similar material. Investigators say a phone recovered at his home also contained more than 400 images and videos, some of which were allegedly shared via the Telegram app.
Sheriff Ivey praised the efforts of the ICAC, Digital Forensics Unit, and Crime Scene Investigators, saying their work “makes our community safer” by protecting children from exploitation.
Parents are urged to monitor children’s activity on apps such as Discord, Telegram, and Kik, as investigators warn these platforms are often used to share illegal content.
