Marianna, FL – Authorities in Jackson County are investigating after possible human remains were discovered in a burned vehicle along Highway 90 east of Marianna.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), deputies responded to a call Thursday regarding a vehicle that had been burned in an isolated location for an extended period. Upon arrival, investigators found what appeared to be human remains inside. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to assist in determining the cause of the fire.
On Friday, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Mobile Crime Scene Unit processed the scene, working alongside JCSO, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the District 14 Medical Examiner’s Office. Authorities have not yet determined the identity of the remains or the vehicle.
Investigators stated that, at this time, there is no preliminary evidence of foul play. The case remains under active investigation, with further details to be released as they become available.
