Tampa, Fla. –Temperatures across the Tampa Bay area are expected to climb near 97°F through midweek, with a slight chance of isolated storms returning Thursday and Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, hot and mostly dry conditions will dominate the region through Wednesday, with daytime highs ranging from 88°F to 97°F and low rain chances. A weak disturbance could trigger scattered interior storms late Thursday into Friday, particularly in inland areas.

Much of Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties will remain under sunny skies and high UV indexes, prompting health officials to encourage limiting outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours. Overnight lows will hover between the upper 60s and mid-70s, offering limited relief from the heat.

Though rain chances are just 10–30% later in the week, any storms that do form could bring brief downpours, lightning, and gusty winds, especially across Polk and Highlands counties. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity midday, and monitor air conditioning performance.

This early summer heat pattern isn’t unusual for mid-May in Central Florida but may feel intense due to high humidity and prolonged sunshine.

Heat advisories are not currently in effect, but updates may follow if conditions worsen. Isolated storm chances continue through Friday, with clearer skies likely to return by the weekend.
