Tallahassee, FL – High temperatures are set to rise into the 90s today, with inland areas of Florida reaching well over 90°F by this afternoon. These hot conditions come with an increased risk of isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly across counties in Georgia and Alabama, as well as areas inland in Florida.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, temperatures will peak between 90°F to 93°F across much of Florida’s northern region, with the highest readings expected in areas like Bainbridge and Thomasville. As the day progresses, scattered thunderstorms will develop, moving westward and potentially impacting outdoor plans in the late afternoon and evening.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and opt for light-colored clothing to mitigate the effects of the heat. Those working outdoors should try to schedule tasks during cooler morning or evening hours to avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures. In addition, keep a close watch for sudden rain showers, which are forecast to increase in the late afternoon.
The heat and thunderstorms are expected to subside by tonight, though similar conditions could return tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates and additional advisories as necessary.
