Miami, Florida – South Florida is heating up fast this week — and a midweek cool-off might come with thunder and rain. After back-to-back sunny days, Miami could see the first signs of summer storms by Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, highs will climb from 86°F on Monday to 89°F by Wednesday, with mostly clear skies holding steady through Tuesday night. Winds will stay calm, shifting slightly from southeast to southwest between now and Wednesday night.

But by Thursday, conditions begin to shift. A 20% chance of thunderstorms arrives after 2 p.m., paired with hot, humid air and winds out of the west. Overnight Thursday into Friday, scattered clouds will linger, and there’s a 10% chance of showers and storms before 8 p.m. The best advice: Don’t leave outdoor plans to chance past midweek — and check local radar before driving, especially along I-95 or US-1.

Here’s what to expect across the next five days:

  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high near 87°F. Light south winds.
  • Wednesday: Sunny and hot, high near 89°F.
  • Thursday: Slight thunderstorm chance after 2 p.m., high of 89°F.
  • Friday: 20% chance of afternoon storms, high of 88°F.
  • Saturday: Slight rain risk continues, high of 86°F.
