A Freeze Warning is in effect tonight into Monday morning across portions of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, with temperatures expected to plunge as low as 24 degrees by 1 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.

The Freeze Warning and accompanying Cold Weather Advisory remain active from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST Monday, impacting inland and coastal communities from Gainesville and Lake City to Waycross, Jesup, and Brunswick. Forecasters warn that wind chills could fall to 14 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for anyone exposed to the cold for extended periods.

According to the National Weather Service, the cold snap will be strong enough to damage crops, kill sensitive vegetation, and freeze unprotected pipes. Officials also warn that wind chills this low could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes, with young children, the elderly, and those without stable shelter facing the greatest risk.

A Freeze Watch is already in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning, signaling another round of sub-freezing temperatures, potentially dropping to 25 degrees across parts of both states.

Coastal areas, including Coastal Camden, Glynn, Trout River, and Coastal Nassau County, will also contend with gusty winds, with some locations seeing gusts up to 35 mph, increasing the risk of falling tree limbs and scattered power outages while making conditions feel even colder.

Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, protect tender plants, and wrap or drip outdoor pipes to prevent freezing. Travelers heading out early Monday should dress in layers, including hats and gloves, and limit time outdoors whenever possible.

Officials stress taking precautions now as dangerous cold conditions will impact the region for a second consecutive night.
