Jacksonville, FL – Areas of dense fog are affecting parts of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia early Friday morning, significantly reducing visibility in some locations.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, the fog developed overnight and may expand in coverage through mid-morning. Visibility has dropped to one mile or less in several areas, including Alma, Waycross, and Live Oak. The densest fog is primarily west of Macclenny and along and west of I-95 in southeast Georgia.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling, especially in low-lying areas and near bodies of water such as marshes, rivers, creeks, and lakes, where fog can be thicker. Drivers should reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and maintain a safe following distance.

The fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning as temperatures rise and winds increase. Until then, residents and commuters should remain alert to rapidly changing visibility conditions.

For the latest weather updates, travelers can check with the National Weather Service or local authorities before heading out. Stay cautious and allow extra travel time in affected areas.
