Jacksonville, FL – The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of north Florida and coastal southeast Georgia, in effect from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday. Overnight lows are expected to dip to around 33 degrees, allowing frost to form in sheltered areas.

According to forecasters, the advisory includes Suwannee, Baker, Union, Hamilton, Columbia, and Nassau counties in Florida, along with Coastal Glynn County, Georgia, including St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island.

Residents are urged to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation, as frost could cause significant damage or kill tender plants if left uncovered. Light winds and clear skies overnight will enhance frost development, especially in low-lying inland areas.

The NWS recommends covering plants with cloth or bringing potted plants indoors before midnight. Pet owners should also ensure outdoor animals have warm shelter from the cold.

Temperatures will rebound into the upper 50s to low 60s by Wednesday afternoon, but another cool morning may follow later in the week as the dry, chilly air lingers over the region.
