Portions of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia remain under a Freeze Warning early Tuesday, with another round of sub-freezing temperatures possible late tonight into Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. EST Tuesday, with temperatures expected to fall as low as 30 degrees across inland areas. A Freeze Watch is also in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, when temperatures could drop further, reaching 26 degrees in some locations.

The affected areas include northeast and northern Florida counties such as Baker, Nassau, Hamilton, Columbia, and Duval, along with southeast Georgia counties including Ware, Charlton, Camden, Glynn, Brantley, Clinch, and Echols. Both inland and coastal communities are included in the alerts.

These temperatures pose a risk to tender vegetation, outdoor pets, and exposed plumbing, particularly in areas unaccustomed to prolonged cold. The National Weather Service also warns that young children, the elderly, and individuals without adequate shelter are especially vulnerable during freeze conditions.

Residents are urged to take protective measures, including covering or bringing plants indoors, ensuring pets have warm shelter, and checking on vulnerable neighbors. Those traveling early Tuesday may also encounter isolated frost on exposed surfaces in colder inland areas.

Conditions are expected to moderate after Wednesday morning, but officials advise residents to continue monitoring local forecasts for updates as the cold pattern persists.
