Tampa, FL – Dense fog has enveloped much of Central Florida this morning, reducing visibility to less than a quarter-mile in some areas, including key roadways like I-75 and U.S. 41. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m., creating hazardous conditions for early commuters.
According to the National Weather Service, this advisory spans the Nature Coast and west-central Florida, impacting cities such as Tampa, Sarasota, and Brooksville. Officials advise using low-beam headlights, reducing speed, and maintaining extra distance between vehicles to avoid accidents. Travelers should consider delaying their plans until conditions improve later this morning.
The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, giving way to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures climbing to a high of 79°F by the afternoon. Tonight, patchy fog may return, especially in low-lying areas, accompanied by calm winds and temperatures around 61°F.
The weekend forecast promises a shift to sunnier skies, with highs reaching 61°F on Saturday and near 69°F by Sunday. Overnight lows will remain cooler, dipping into the mid-40s. These conditions mark a return to clear, dry weather, ideal for holiday preparations or outdoor activities.
Drivers and residents should remain vigilant until the fog advisory expires and follow all safety recommendations. For updated weather information, visit weather.gov.
