Miami, FL – Urban neighborhoods in Miami and Fort Lauderdale face the risk of street flooding through Tuesday morning as periods of heavy rainfall continue across South Florida.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Flood Watch remains in effect for a wide swath of the region—including Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Collier, Hendry, and Glades counties—until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches have already fallen, with isolated areas reporting as much as 5 inches. Additional showers tonight may worsen flooding, especially in low-lying or poorly drained zones.

Coastal and metro areas such as Hialeah, Hollywood, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach are especially vulnerable due to saturated ground and overwhelmed drainage systems. Commuters should plan for water-covered roadways and potential detours during the Tuesday morning drive. Officials urge residents to avoid driving through flooded streets and to secure loose outdoor items in case of localized flash flooding.

The heaviest rain is expected to continue through the overnight hours, especially along the urban corridor. Emergency management agencies recommend charging mobile devices and preparing for possible water intrusions in flood-prone homes.

The Flood Watch remains active until 8 a.m. Tuesday, with additional advisories possible if rainfall persists.
