ORLANDO, FL – Water stands in low spots and rushes through roadside ditches this morning across central Florida. The air is thick, the sky leaden, and the storm drains are struggling to keep up. After a weekend of relentless rain, flash flooding remains the biggest threat today as a Flood Watch stays in effect for much of east-central Florida, including Orlando, Melbourne, Lake, Orange, and Seminole counties.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne reports that between 10 and 19 inches of rain have already fallen in parts of Lake and Orange counties, leaving roads washed out and some neighborhoods isolated. This morning’s Flood Warning covers those hardest-hit zones until 7 a.m., but high water and saturated soils will keep travel hazardous well into Monday.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected through the early afternoon before drier air begins to edge in from the northwest. Commuters should use extreme caution, avoid flooded intersections, and allow extra travel time. Remember — turn around, don’t drown.

By Tuesday, the weather pattern flips. Sunshine returns, humidity drops, and highs climb to around 80°F. Wednesday follows suit with bright skies and light winds — a much-needed break for cleanup and drying out.

Late-week temperatures ease slightly into the 70s with mostly clear skies through Halloween Friday. Trick-or-treaters can expect warm, calm air and dry streets — a rare treat after the soaking start to the week.

Still, forecasters note this system marks Florida’s transition toward drier, breezier late-fall weather. And as models hint at early cool fronts building by mid-November, it’s clear — a chilly November lies ahead.

Five-Day Outlook for Orlando, FL:
Mon: 85/68 – Flooding rain, thunderstorms; local high water.
Tue: 80/62 – Mostly sunny, breezy.
Wed: 79/57 – Sunny, low humidity.
Thu: 72/54 – Clear, cooler.
Fri: 75/56 – Dry, perfect Halloween evening.
