Jacksonville, FL – A Flood Watch has been issued for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia as heavy rainfall is expected to impact the region from early Sunday morning through Monday. The National Weather Service warns of potential flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, the Flood Watch will take effect at 5 a.m. Sunday and remain in place until Monday morning. Rainfall amounts between 2 to 4 inches are expected, with localized areas possibly receiving higher totals. Excessive runoff could lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, and urban areas, particularly in flood-prone zones.

The affected areas include Baker, Bradford, Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, Columbia, and Suwannee counties in Florida, as well as Camden, Charlton, Clinch, and Ware counties in Georgia. Coastal and inland areas alike should prepare for potential disruptions due to water accumulation.

Residents are urged to stay informed and monitor forecasts for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in vulnerable areas should be ready to take action if conditions worsen. Motorists should avoid driving through flooded roads and be cautious of rapidly changing conditions.
