Tallahassee, FL – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for parts of Big Bend Florida, including southeastern Gadsden County, southern Leon County, Liberty County, and northern Wakulla County, as heavy rain continues to impact the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the warning is in effect until 9:15 p.m. EDT Sunday. Doppler radar detected thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall, with between 3 and 5 inches of rain already falling in the affected areas. An additional 2 to 4 inches of rain is possible, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

Officials warn that flash flooding may impact small creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, and low-lying regions. Locations at risk include Tallahassee, Woodville, Midway, Crawfordville, Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Doak Campbell Stadium.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and low-lying areas. The National Weather Service advises, “Turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded streets, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay informed with updates from local authorities and monitor emergency alerts. Those in flood-prone areas should seek higher ground if conditions worsen. The warning remains in effect through Sunday night, with conditions expected to improve as storms move out of the region.
