Melbourne, FL – Central Florida residents are bracing for icy conditions this weekend as temperatures plunge to the lowest levels of the season. A cold weather advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday, with wind chills dipping into the upper 20s along the I-95 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service, frigid winds from the north will keep the region in the 30s and 40s for most of Saturday morning. These conditions can cause frostbite and hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Residents are urged to bundle up, limit outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable individuals and pets.
High temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s by Saturday afternoon as onshore flow develops. However, the cold will return Saturday night, with lows in the mid-30s across inland areas and the low 40s closer to the coast.
Looking ahead, Sunday will bring some relief with sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s. Overnight lows will still hover around 40 degrees. By Monday and Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to climb into the upper 60s and low 70s, signaling a gradual return to milder conditions.
In addition to the cold, a high rip current risk remains in effect along Central Florida beaches. Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water until conditions improve.
Stay prepared for the cold this weekend. Dress warmly, keep heaters safely maintained, and avoid unnecessary travel during early morning hours.
