Melbourne, FL – The National Weather Service is warning beachgoers and boaters of hazardous conditions along Florida’s east coast today, with high surf, coastal flooding, and rough seas continuing through late Saturday night.

According to the NWS Melbourne office, a Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for Volusia and northern Brevard Counties, while a Coastal Flood Advisory covers southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties. Tides may rise 2–3 feet above normal, with water reaching dunes and yards in low-lying coastal neighborhoods.

A High Surf Advisory is also active for the Volusia coast, where breaking waves of 4–8 feet are expected. Lifeguards urge swimmers to stay out of the water as a high risk of rip currents persists at all east-central Florida beaches.

Offshore, Small Craft Advisories and Gale Warnings extend from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet, with north to northwest winds of 15–25 knots and seas of 6–10 feet. Mariners are urged to avoid navigating in these conditions.
