Tampa, Florida – Increased rainfall could drench parts of Florida next week as a weak area of low pressure shows signs of tropical development near the state’s Gulf and Atlantic coasts.

According to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay office, there is a 20% chance that this disturbance could organize into a tropical system over the next seven days. The system is being monitored closely, especially as it drifts toward the eastern Gulf or southeastern U.S. Atlantic Coast heading into next weekend.

While it’s too early to determine exact impacts, forecasters urge residents across West Central and Southwest Florida to stay alert. Localized flooding, travel delays, and beach hazards are possible even if the system does not fully develop.

Visitors and coastal communities should prepare for wetter-than-average conditions beginning midweek, with the heaviest rains likely arriving by Saturday. If the system strengthens, additional watches or warnings could be issued for Florida’s Gulf counties and nearby regions.

Updates will continue daily from the National Hurricane Center and local emergency officials. For now, residents are advised to monitor forecasts closely and review storm readiness plans.
