Marianna, FL – A cave diving incident at Twin Caves resulted in the death of one diver while two others were rescued Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call around 1:15 p.m. reporting overdue divers at the popular diving site. A swift rescue operation led to two divers safely exiting the caves. Unfortunately, a third diver was found deceased.
Sheriff Donald Edenfield expressed gratitude to Jackson County Fire & Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife, and Cave Adventures staff for their assistance. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased diver.
Authorities urge caution for cave divers and recommend following safety protocols to prevent accidents. The incident remains under investigation.
