Central Florida – Beachgoers in Central Florida are urged to avoid entering the ocean as dangerous rip currents and high surf make for hazardous conditions today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Melbourne. Winds will remain breezy, coming from the east at 20-25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 25 mph.

According to the NWS, a high surf advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight, with large breaking waves between 5-7 feet anticipated. A Small Craft Advisory is also active, warning of seas reaching 6-9 feet nearshore and 8-10 feet offshore. Mariners are cautioned to navigate carefully or delay any outings until conditions stabilize. The surf and rip currents are expected to be at their most dangerous along popular beaches from Daytona down to Stuart, including routes near I-95.

On Friday, Central Florida’s forecast includes partly sunny skies with slight chances of afternoon showers. Highs are predicted around 83 degrees, with breezy conditions continuing. For those planning weekend outings, Saturday will see similar weather, with minor chances of showers in the morning, then mostly clear skies Saturday night. Highs on Sunday may reach 84 degrees, promising a sunny day with manageable winds.

Looking into next week, Monday brings slightly cooler conditions, with highs near 83 degrees and clear skies. Anyone planning outdoor activities should continue to monitor local forecasts, as conditions could shift over the next few days.

For now, residents and visitors should prioritize safety by staying out of the water and adhering to advisories, especially as rip currents remain a serious threat along the coast.
