Jacksonville, Fla. – Coastal flooding, dangerous rip currents, and high surf are expected to create hazardous conditions along northeast Florida beaches through early Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning, High Surf Advisory, and Rip Current Statement for Duval, Flagler, St. Johns, and coastal counties.

According to the National Weather Service Jacksonville office, flooding will peak around times of high tide, with waves up to seven feet leading to erosion and beach impacts. Low-lying properties near the St. Johns River Basin could also be inundated, and some roads may be closed by standing water.

In Jacksonville, sustained winds up to 20 mph with gusts near 30 mph will worsen coastal flooding and erosion risk through the weekend. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions are expected at Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach, with forecasters urging even strong swimmers to stay out of the water.

Residents are advised to avoid non-essential travel in flood-prone zones, charge devices ahead of possible outages, and secure outdoor belongings. Authorities warn rip currents can sweep even experienced swimmers into deeper water.

The flood, surf, and rip current alerts remain in effect until at least 5 a.m. Tuesday, with more advisories possible depending on storm progression.
