Martin County, FL – Two teenage sisters were safely recovered after authorities say a Nebraska man allegedly kidnapped them in Florida following months of online communication through the gaming platform Roblox.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the sisters, ages 12 and 14, were last seen Saturday in Indiantown. Deputies said a multi-agency search involving local, state, and federal authorities was launched after the girls were reported missing.

According to Sheriff John Budensiek, the search ended Sunday when Georgia Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle believed to be carrying the girls. The driver was identified as Hser Mu Lah Say, 19, of Nebraska. The sisters were found unharmed, authorities said.

Say has been charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of interference with child custody. Sheriff Budensiek said additional charges are possible.

Budensiek said investigators believe Say had been communicating with the girls on Roblox since last summer, before moving conversations to Snapchat. Authorities allege Say then drove from Nebraska to Florida to pick up the sisters.

Roblox issued a statement saying it is “deeply troubled” by the incident and is cooperating with law enforcement. The company said it has implemented safety measures including chat filters, limits on sharing personal information, and global age-verification requirements for chat features.

In January, Roblox began requiring facial age scans before users can access chat functions. According to the company, the system places users into age-appropriate communication settings by default.

The incident comes as Roblox continues to face lawsuits and criticism over allegations that minors can be groomed on the platform. In October 2025, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced criminal subpoenas related to Roblox safety practices.

NBC6 has previously reported on similar cases, including a 2022 South Florida incident that resulted in a 25-year prison sentence for a man who met an 11-year-old victim through Roblox.

Sheriff Budensiek urged parents to closely monitor online activity, warning that “digital platforms can create real-world dangers.”
