Fruitland, FL – Investigators in Putnam County are asking for the public’s help locating two juveniles who may have witnessed the murder of Cheyenne Kastens outside the Dollar General in Fruitland on November 14, according to a new update from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives say the two boys were seen in the parking lot around the time of the fatal attack and may have information that could assist the ongoing investigation. Authorities emphasized that the juveniles are not suspects and are not in any trouble, but may have unknowingly seen something important.
Based on witness statements and the information gathered so far, deputies believe one of the juveniles is a white male, possibly a pre-teen estimated between 10 and 12 years old. The second is believed to be a white male approximately 14 to 16 years old. Investigators noted that these age ranges are only approximations based on height and build.
Both juveniles may live near the Fruitland Dollar General and could have walked to the store, according to the sheriff’s office. No clothing description was available.
Authorities are urging parents, grandparents, or guardians who believe the description might fit their child to contact the sheriff’s office as soon as possible. Detectives say the children could provide valuable information that helps move the case forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 386-329-0800 and request Sgt. Ryan Owens.
