Heavy rain is anticipated for areas south of the Kankakee River Valley as the remnants of tropical system Beryl move northeastward. This weather event is expected to bring significant rainfall starting Tuesday night and extending into Wednesday.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Monday afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 82 to 88 degrees. The rain threat will increase significantly by Tuesday afternoon, particularly along the I-80 corridor. By Wednesday, heavy rain is expected to impact areas southeast of I-55, bringing cooler temperatures between 74 and 80 degrees.

The northern edge of Beryl’s remnants will clip the local area, with the heaviest rain projected south of the Kankakee River Valley. Flooding is a concern, particularly for regions from Paxton, IL to Rensselaer, IN. The exact path of the system remains uncertain, and adjustments north or south could change the flooding threat.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the forecast and prepare for potential flooding. The US National Weather Service recommends monitoring weather updates and being ready for sudden changes in conditions.
