Springfield, MO – A Flood Watch has been issued for southwest and central Missouri, including Springfield, Lebanon, Waynesville, and surrounding areas, as heavy rainfall is expected to impact the region through Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service issued the Flood Watch, which is in effect from 7 a.m. CDT Thursday, April 3, through Saturday, April 6. Forecasters warn that excessive rainfall could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service, rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are expected, with localized totals reaching up to 9 inches, particularly in south-central Missouri. This significant rainfall may cause flash flooding and excessive runoff, resulting in hazardous conditions in flood-prone locations.
Residents in Pulaski, Greene, and Laclede counties should stay informed about later weather updates and prepare for potential flooding. Those living in areas known for flooding are urged to take necessary precautions, including moving to higher ground if necessary.
