Sacramento, CA – A flood watch is in effect for much of Northern California through Sunday evening, with heavy rain expected to cause dangerous conditions. Residents in flood-prone areas should prepare for potential rising water levels, especially near creeks and low-lying neighborhoods.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the storm will bring 2 to 4 inches of rain over the next 48 hours. The heaviest rainfall is expected Friday afternoon through Saturday. Excessive runoff could cause creeks and streams to overflow, leading to road closures and urban flooding.

Drivers should avoid water-covered roadways and be cautious near Highway 99 and Interstate 5, where standing water could create hazardous travel conditions. Rockslides are also possible in foothill areas.

Saturday will see a high of 55°F with strong southeast winds gusting up to 18 mph. Rain continues into Sunday, with a high near 59°F and a 90% chance of showers.

Stay updated with weather alerts and be prepared to take action if flooding develops. Emergency officials advise residents to have sandbags ready and remain vigilant for further warnings.
