Hartford, CT – A Flood Watch remains in effect for parts of northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts from late tonight through Saturday morning, as heavy rainfall threatens to cause flooding in several regions.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall rates could reach up to 2-3 inches, with the heaviest rains expected Friday morning through Saturday morning. As a result, rivers, creeks, and streams may experience significant runoff, potentially flooding low-lying and flood-prone areas. Localized street flooding may also occur, though flash flooding is not expected.

Residents in Hartford, Tolland, and several areas in western Massachusetts, including Greenfield, Northampton, and Springfield, should be prepared for possible disruptions. Those living near the Southern Connecticut River and the Northern Connecticut River may see continued flooding due to already elevated water levels. Minor street flooding could also affect daily activities in impacted regions.

The National Weather Service advises individuals in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and be prepared to act should the flooding intensify. Additional warnings could be issued as conditions evolve. For more information on flood safety, visit flood safety tips.
