Sacramento, CA – Flood warnings remain in effect for portions of the Sacramento River, with minor flooding forecast in several areas, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento.
According to the NWS, the flood warning for the Sacramento River at Ord Ferry in Glenn and Butte counties has been extended until Friday evening. As of Thursday morning, the river level was measured at 115.3 feet, exceeding the flood stage of 114.0 feet. The river is expected to crest at 116.6 feet before receding below flood stage by Friday afternoon. Floodwaters have already forced the closure of Ord Ferry Road and could impact additional roads and flood control facilities.
The flood warning for the Sacramento River at Tehama Bridge in Tehama County remains in effect until further notice. Water levels are projected to rise above the 209.5-foot flood stage late Thursday night, reaching 211.6 feet by Friday afternoon. The flooding may impact low-lying areas near trailer parks, county parks, and roads.
Meanwhile, flood warnings for the Sacramento River near Hamilton City and at Vina Woodson Bridge have been canceled as water levels have begun to recede.
Officials urge residents to avoid driving through flooded areas and to follow road closures. The next flood update is expected at 9:30 a.m. PST Thursday.
