St. Louis, MO – A flood watch is in effect for parts of the eastern Ozarks as thunderstorms are expected to develop across southeast and south-central Missouri overnight. Heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches, with localized amounts potentially exceeding 4 inches, will create hazardous conditions through Sunday morning. The National Weather Service issued the flood watch from 1 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, persistent thunderstorms are expected to continue through Sunday morning across the affected region, which includes areas near Lebanon, Licking, and beyond. The storm system could lead to flash flooding in areas with poor drainage or low-lying terrain.
Travelers in the region should remain cautious and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. Avoid driving through flooded areas, as even small amounts of water on the road can be dangerous. If you live in flood-prone areas, make sure to stay informed of updates from local authorities and be prepared to move to higher ground if necessary.
The flood watch is expected to expire by 1 p.m. Sunday, but additional warnings may be issued if conditions worsen. Keep an eye on the weather for any changes.
