Louisville, KY – A winter storm is set to impact Kentucky and southern Indiana starting late Tuesday, bringing snow, icy conditions, and frigid temperatures through Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through midday Wednesday, warning of 1 to 3 inches of snowfall and hazardous travel conditions on major routes, including Dixie Highway and I-65.
According to the NWS, moderate snow overnight will create slick roads, with wind chills dropping to the single digits. Commuters should prepare for slow travel Wednesday morning, as roads and bridges may become icy. Additional snow showers are expected in the afternoon before tapering off.
Beyond Wednesday, temperatures will remain bitterly cold, with lows in the single digits and highs struggling to reach the mid-20s. However, a warming trend is on the way, with highs climbing into the 40s by Sunday, signaling an end to the Arctic chill.
Motorists should drive cautiously, allow extra time for travel, and check road conditions at 511in.org (Indiana) or goky.ky.gov (Kentucky) before heading out.
