Paducah, KY – The National Weather Service has issued warnings for dangerous flash flooding across much of Kentucky and parts of Missouri as heavy rainfall continues today and into tonight. A very active and dangerous weather pattern is in place, bringing with it significant rain and the potential for isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service, most of western Kentucky and the Missouri Bootheel are under a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms, with the main concern being damaging winds. These storms could lead to flash flooding, particularly in areas that have already seen historic rainfall amounts.

Flash flood watches remain in effect for much of the region through Saturday night, and rainfall totals could range from 3 to 6 inches in some areas. Residents are advised to stay informed on the latest weather developments, avoid driving on flooded roads, and have an emergency plan in place.

The ongoing weather system will bring additional rainfall and the continued risk of flash flooding through the night, especially for low-lying and flood-prone areas. Moving to higher ground is recommended if conditions worsen.
