Flash Flood Warnings Extend Across St. Louis Area as Storms Bring Heavy Rain

St. Louis, MO – April 4, 2025 – A series of flash flood warnings are in effect across the St. Louis metro area as heavy thunderstorms continue to bring significant rainfall. These storms have already dumped between 1 to 4 inches of rain, with additional rainfall expected to worsen conditions through the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the flash flood warnings will remain in effect until late tonight, impacting numerous areas, including St. Louis, St. Charles, Chesterfield, Wildwood, and other surrounding communities. Flash flooding is already occurring in low-lying areas and urban zones, with streets, highways, and underpasses at risk.

In the affected areas, creeks and streams are overflowing, and drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads. Key highways, including I-44 and I-70, are experiencing dangerous conditions. The NWS advises motorists to turn around when encountering flooded roadways, as flood deaths often occur in vehicles.

State parks in the region, including Babler Memorial and Castlewood State Parks, are also affected. Residents in the warned zones should stay alert and prepare for worsening conditions through 10:45 PM CDT.
