Pittsburgh, Pa. – Flash flooding remains a threat across parts of southwest Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia through midnight, with a Flood Watch still active in several eastern counties, including Indiana, Clarion, and Fayette.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the Flood Watch has been lifted for western areas like Beaver, Washington, and New Castle, but remains in effect from Pittsburgh eastward and south into Morgantown, West Virginia. Residents in active watch zones should be alert for flooding along small streams, ponding on roads, and rapidly rising water in low-lying areas.

Areas still under the watch include Butler, Latrobe, Punxsutawney, Uniontown, and Davis, WV. Driving across flooded roads is strongly discouraged, especially after dark. The NWS urges the public to report dangerous conditions such as 6 inches or more of water over roadways or standing water deeper than 3 feet.

Crews are monitoring vulnerable locations along the Monongahela and Youghiogheny rivers, where runoff could persist into early Saturday. Emergency managers recommend charging mobile devices, avoiding unnecessary travel, and checking road conditions via 511PA.

Further alerts may be issued if rainfall intensifies overnight.
