Flanagan, IL – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has clarified recent reports of suspicious individuals taking photographs of homes in Flanagan. These individuals, initially mistaken for potential criminals, were subcontractors for mortgage lenders.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, witnesses described the suspects, their vehicle, and the vehicle registration. The investigations section used this information to identify the individuals. Contact was made with one of the suspects, revealing they were hired to photograph properties to confirm occupancy for mortgage lenders.

The company employing these subcontractors was contacted and confirmed their purpose. They were advised to take measures to appear less suspicious, such as wearing identification and labeling their vehicles.

The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the witnesses who provided information leading to the identification of these individuals and their company. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office informed the public about the use of apps that allow individuals to sign up for such tasks, which may make these occurrences more common.
