A weak weather system moving in from the north will bring spotty showers and light snow to northern Arizona from late Tuesday night through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff.
After a dry and cool Tuesday, clouds will increase tonight as the system approaches. Snow levels are expected to drop to near 5,000 feet, with the best chance for light snow occurring above 6,000 feet, including areas such as Flagstaff, Forest Lakes, and the Grand Canyon Village.
Accumulations are expected to be minor, generally less than one inch, though brief periods of reduced visibility or slick spots could develop on mountain roads early Wednesday. Locations across the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains may also see a few light snow showers.
Daytime temperatures will trend cooler Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the 40s for higher elevations and 50s to low 60s across lower terrain such as Prescott, Sedona, and Payson. Winds will remain light to moderate.
By Friday, a warming trend will develop as high pressure builds back in, bringing dry and sunny weather for the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to rise into the 50s and 60s across much of northern Arizona by Saturday and Sunday.
Overall, the midweek system looks weak and fast-moving, offering just a brief taste of winter before milder weather returns. Travelers in higher elevations should remain cautious of light snow or icy patches early Wednesday morning before conditions improve later in the day.
