Flagstaff, Arizona – A cold front moving through northern Arizona Saturday will bring chances for rain and snow showers, gusty winds, and cooler temperatures that are expected to persist into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, scattered showers are possible today as the cold front crosses the region. Precipitation is expected to be mainly rain during the day, with rain or snow showers developing north of the Mogollon Rim during the afternoon hours.

Despite the arrival of cooler air, afternoon temperatures will remain 5 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages, according to the Weather Service. Highs across the Flagstaff area and surrounding high country are forecast to range through the 40s and 50s, with cooler readings at higher elevations.

Winds will increase as the front moves through, with southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts approaching 30 mph possible at times. Gusty winds combined with showers may briefly reduce visibility, especially in higher terrain.

Forecasters noted that cooler temperatures behind the front will linger through early next week, marking a shift away from the recent warmer pattern. While widespread heavy precipitation is not indicated, periodic showers may continue in northern Arizona.

Travelers and outdoor recreationists are advised to remain alert for changing conditions, particularly in higher elevations where snow showers may briefly impact roads north of the Mogollon Rim.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to monitor updated forecasts as conditions evolve through the weekend and into next week.
