Flagstaff, AZ – Thunderstorms are expected to bring a wet and windy Wednesday to much of northern Arizona, with the most intense activity possible between late morning and mid-afternoon. Gusts could reach 20 mph as showers spread across Coconino County.

According to the National Weather Service, storms are most likely from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a 60% chance of rain and localized downpours. Southwest winds will range from 7 to 11 mph, occasionally gusting higher, which could impact travel along I-40 and U.S. 89. Outdoor events and midday commutes may be disrupted by brief heavy rain and reduced visibility.

Evening skies should gradually clear, but lingering showers could persist until nightfall. Drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads, and hikers should avoid exposed ridgelines during active thunderstorm periods.

This storm activity marks one of the week’s higher rain chances, with additional but lower-probability storms possible Thursday and Friday.
