Flagstaff, AZ – A final round of showers and thunderstorms will push through northern and central Arizona Sunday, with flash flooding still a concern in already saturated areas. The risk is expected to diminish quickly by evening as drier air moves in from the west.
According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, storm chances remain elevated through late Sunday afternoon, with rainfall probabilities as high as 78% in areas like Seligman and 79% near Williams. Flash flood potential is rated “minor,” but isolated runoff issues are possible, especially in washes, slot canyons, and low-lying rural roads.
Communities from Kingman to the Mogollon Rim—including Prescott, Payson, and Flagstaff—should monitor conditions closely. Urban flooding and slick roads may make travel hazardous through early evening. Motorists are urged to avoid water-covered roadways and stay alert to rapidly changing conditions.
Much drier and warmer air arrives Monday, kicking off a quiet and more stable weather pattern across Arizona for the week ahead.
More updates will be issued if any flood warnings are activated.
