Flagstaff, Ariz. – Thunderstorms are set to rumble back into northern Arizona late Thursday, bringing the risk of heavy downpours and flash flooding through Friday night. Drivers in Flagstaff and nearby Coconino County should plan for slower commutes, slick roads, and possible delays as storms move across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, showers and storms will develop after 5 p.m. Thursday, with gusts up to 18 mph. Rain chances climb to 70 percent Friday, when widespread thunderstorms could dump heavy rain across high-elevation areas, reducing visibility and triggering patchy fog overnight.

Southwest winds will add to the hazards, with gusts as high as 22 mph Friday night. Saturday brings a slight chance of storms before conditions gradually clear into Sunday. Highs will hover in the upper 70s, while overnight lows dip into the mid-40s.

Travelers are urged to avoid flood-prone roads, keep devices charged in case of power outages, and stay updated on flash flood warnings through the weekend. Additional advisories could be issued if storm activity intensifies.
